Don’t Just Practice Harder, Train Smarter!!!
July 26th, 2011

Time and time again, I see too many dancers waste their time “practicing”. They think that being at the ballroom for 2 to 3 hours means that they are hard working and diligent students; but in reality, they really don’t accomplish much. Either they are running through material aimlessly, not knowing what to fix and how to fix it; or they are standing on the floor “discussing” (or worse arguing) about what they should be doing.

Dance Pacifica 2009: Where Have All the Competitors Gone?
June 23rd, 2009

seawallDance Pacifica was held last weekend in Victoria, BC. For those of you who don’t know, it is one of two DanceSport competitions held on Vancouver Island during the late Spring and early Summer. The Victoria Ballroom Dance Society, which is an organization made up of volunteers and ballroom enthusiasts, do a great job of putting it all together. This year, the event hosted the regular slate of Amateur competitions, as well as a Professional Showcase by Canadian Latin Champions, Andre and Natalie Paramonov. Unfortunately though, attendance was quite low.
