Pacifica Ball 2014

Horsing around on the ferry!Last weekend, Joel and I took the family to Victoria for a business/dance/vacation. Like any trip with the girls, as soon as we got home, we needed a vacation from the vacation! Don’t get me wrong… it was tonnes of fun; but very tiring as well!

IMG_4319.jpgLooking after 2 little girls is all-consuming. I feel like a dog chasing my own tail all the time! I just can’t seem to catch up with life! I don’t know how all of you super-moms out there do it… but I am barely hanging on!

Victoria was a great trip though, as always. I love riding the ferry, feeling the open air on the water and of course, the best part (at least for my junk-food deprived girls) is enjoying the White Spot fries! Hahaha! :)

IMG_4365.jpgOur dance company, JC Dance Co., brought a group of students to dance at the Pacifica Ball competition.

I entered my Ladies Only Latin Team into the competition for the first time! My super-keen, brilliant ladies did a Latin medley to “Whatever Lola Wants”. They danced very well and got excellent feedback from the judges. As one of them said, “Who needs MEN!!!” 😀 Hahaha!

I actually went out the other night with my wonderful group of ladies, and it was great fun! We are all looking forward to preparing our little group of Lolas for Robson Square on July 18th. [Come and watch us perform!]

Our Adult Performance Team (who are also getting ready for Robson Square) were invited to do 2 shows at Pacifica Ball. We rolled out “Timber” for the first time in front of the dance community. The crowd cheered and “yee-hawed” with us the whole way through!

The Saturday night ended off with our second annual crazy team-bonding at the Spencer Castle. I won’t go into any further details, as you really don’t want to know what shenanigans the JC Team is capable of! :)
As our whole team has vowed, “What happens in Victoria, stays in Victoria.”

On Sunday, Joel and I gave 2 workshops to a great group of Victoria Ballroom Dance Society members. I always love teaching workshops and inspiring a new crowd of people. It is very satisfying to have paid forward our knowledge and experience to people learning and striving to get better.

Monday was a sight-seeing day. We casually played on the castle grounds and went to the Beacon Hill Children’s Farm. The kids were so excited to be able to brush and pet the goats! We were planning to go to the Harbour as well and see more of the sights, but everyone (except for Joel, who was driving) fell asleep in the car, so we ended up heading back to the ferry.

All in all, it was a great trip. Thanks to the organizers of the Pacifica Ball and the Vancouver Island Pro-Am competition!  It was great to have the Pacifica Ball back after a 3 year hiatus!

Guess who's wearing the horse & unicorn head?
